History from the History and Roster of Maryland Volunteeers:

The Thirteenth Regiment of Infantry, Maryland Volunteers, was composed of Veterans from the 1st Regiment Potomac Home Brigade Infantry, Maryland Volunteers, and recruits.

The organization was completed March 1, 1865, and the desig- nation dated from April 8, 1865.

The 1st Regiment Potomac Home Brigade Infantry, Maryland Volunteers, was organized at Frederick City, Md., from August 15 to December 13, 1861.

The 13th Regiment of Infantry, Maryland Volunteers, were assigned to duty at Martinsburg, West Virginia, and along the line of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad from Martinsburg to Harper's Ferry, Va.

The 13th Regiment of Infantry was mustered out of service May 29, 1865, by reason of the close of the war.
